The fourth series of MI-5 (Spooks) packs a slightly lesser punch than the previous three, but appealing and inspiring nonetheless.

For my money, this series leaves stuff like 24 at the starting gate – it retains a gracious grip of the accurate world and does not treat other countries as either idiotic or as a fiefdom. The fact that the series is working through its’ second team of actors is edge of the seat stuff and validates plotlines nicely.
The issues of station sponsored torture, expansive brother, personal privacy and civil rights are raised throughout, but never challenged to any expansive extent.

Well produced, slick and gives Mr Bond a race for his money.
This series captures the best of the thriller, English discover game with plots that assume fresh global events. It is a roller coaster thrill slide with every unique episode, and unlike American TV drama, they aren’t alarmed to do key characters in mortal pain. Highly recommended.

For all the praise film-noir is lavished with (quite a lot of it favorable), the majority of it relies on convention as powerful as the standard white-picket-fence, happy-ending ‘family’ film does: objective invert the cliches and bathe them in deep-focus shadows. While this movie, on its surface, resembles the classic-style film noir of DOUBLE INDEMNITY, beneath the surface it’s a whole different animal. No calculating depraved females or tough guys masking hearts of gold populate IN A LONELY Area. It’s a noteworthy more wrenching and powerfully disturbing film because the slay that draws the protagonists together turns out to be of peripheral importance, while the appreciate myth between Humphrey Bogart’s disquieted screenwriter and Gloria Grahame’s B-actress spins inexorably towards damnation completely on its acquire power. The basic yarn has him a suspect in a killing, and her in appreciate with him yet unsure of his innocence, but director Nicholas Ray stages the proceedings so that WE ogle it’s not the cancel that disturbs her but her have conviction that his self-destructive and volatile nature will raze them both. To his credit, Ray never takes the easy map out of having Bogart turn monster on her. You care inordinately about the characters, hoping hard (as Bogart’s agent does in the film) that some transforming moment will arrive that will spare these people and allow their deeply felt treasure to flourish and heal them both – even as the evidence before your occupy eyes tells you there ain’t no diagram. For 1950 -hell, for any year- such an unsentimental and uncompromising treatment of a tragic adult relationship is a rarity. The shadows suffusing this estimable film arrive not from UFA-influenced lighting but from the Sunless Dahlia destroy, the HUAC hearings, the death throes of ancient Hollywood & the upright and spiritual detachment of postwar American life. But most of all, they’re projected from within the characters themselves. Grahame and Ray’s maintain real-life deteriorating relationship formed the template for the doomed lovers, and for them, this film is an act of mountainous courage. For his portion, Bogart (the star and executive producer) takes elements of all his previous romantic loners and blends them with the harsh, sour pigments of Fred C Dobbs, running the risk of audience rejection. His performance is unflinchingly just, among his best work ever. Look this movie.
One test for me is re-viewing and I’ve seen this film around ten times. The tenth time I found the initial scene between Ms Grahame and her lesbian masseur both witty and appealing as the almost sadistic masseur zigzag, leant, squeezed with each vicious word her distaste for Ms Grahame’s man, and I guess, for all men. But this is a film rich in such moments – including the apparently obligatory night club singing scene which was a cliche of the forties films – with the kindly singing performance interrupted by the aroused Dixon Steele (Bogart) as he physically attacks HIS BESPECTACLED BEST FRIEND AND AGENT at his table. Personally I net this film gracious to REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. It is especially well written by Andrew Solt and Mr Ray gets astounding performances out of all concerned. It is at the one time a film self deprecating about its beget medium as an art – mighty irony within the film about the cliches of film – as well as a searing comment on post traumatic stress as the character played by Mr Bogart is clearly a victim of war. Indeed, I count the film amongst the best of its time which seems to procure better with age. Lustrous in sunless and white.

after reading some of the reviews of this item i was hesitant in purchasing it, but i decided to prefer it anyway and i am jubilant with my seize, while the residence does lack dvd quality, it is equal to vhs quality and therefore watchable enough to like, recount is obvious and audio is capable, for the cost of the item i cannot complain and am able to sit wait on, explore and be pleased these films, there are five movies on the first disc, and five on the second, apparently the first ten movies in the series, it is also very convenient to have all ten movies on two disc, so far i have watched six movies and saw the platinum logo once on the camouflage for a couple minutes, if you want blondie and dagwood, with a cost as vulgar as this you might want to contemplate buying the space as we may never peep a high quality dvd produced, possibly there is not a tall enough market out there for this item, i hope this review has been helpful

I purchased both DVD’s, even though some of the reviews were dreadful. But I was so gay when I played them. They are of favorable quality both the describe and sound. I watched the Blondie movies years ago on TV and can now luxuriate in them anytime I want. I recommend these 2 DVD’s to anyone who is a Blondie fan. It is well worth the money.
